1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when couples, their collaborators, and their guests interact with The Aisle App and related services (together, the “Services”).
The Aisle App is a product of Nuru Technologies Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”), an Australian company operating internationally. We comply with the data protection laws applicable in each country where we operate. Where local data protection legislation applies in the countries we serve, we honour those requirements.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.
2. Who we are
The data controller is Nuru Technologies Pty Ltd, an Australian company operating internationally. For privacy enquiries, contact us at hello@theaisleapp.com.
The Aisle App is used by engaged couples planning a wedding, the people they invite to help (the “Collaborators” — family members, bridal party, committees, vendors they choose to give access to), and the guests they include in their wedding (the “Guests”). Different parts of this policy apply to each of these groups.
3. Information we collect
We only collect the information needed to provide, secure, and improve the Services.
Couple and account data. Names, email addresses, wedding date, ceremony details, billing information, subscription status, account settings, and similar operational data you provide when creating or managing your account.
Wedding content you create. Guest lists, ceremony details, seating charts, budgets, vendor records, committee notes, timelines, registry items, stationery designs, photos, documents, messages, and anything else you upload to your wedding inside The Aisle App.
Guest information you provide. When you add Guests to your wedding, you may provide their names, contact details, dietary requirements, accessibility needs, plus-one information, RSVPs, gift records, and seating preferences. You are responsible for what you upload about your Guests (see Section 11 below).
Collaborator information. When you invite Collaborators (family, bridal party, committee members, vendors), we collect their names and contact details to create their access. Collaborators see only the parts of your wedding you grant them access to.
Payment information. When you pay for The Aisle App, or when your Guests contribute to your registry, payment information is processed through third-party payment providers (such as mobile money operators, card networks, and bank transfer rails). We receive transaction confirmations and amounts but do not store full card numbers or account details for payments processed by those providers in accordance with their terms.
Technical and device data. IP address, device type, browser type, app version, diagnostic logs, and security signals used to protect accounts and resolve issues.
Communications. Messages you send us through contact forms, support requests, or our public application processes (for example, vendors applying to be listed in our directory).
4. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate the Services, including syncing across the devices you and your Collaborators use
- Authenticate users and protect accounts
- Process your subscription and any registry contributions
- Allow you to share parts of your wedding with the Collaborators and Guests you choose
- Send transactional emails about your account, payments, and wedding milestones
- Provide customer support
- Improve reliability, performance, and design of the Services
- Detect and prevent fraud or misuse
- Meet legal and regulatory obligations
We do not sell personal data. We do not share your wedding's data with vendors, advertisers, or data brokers.
5. Storage and security
We use secure cloud infrastructure and industry-standard measures designed to protect data in transit and at rest, including encryption for data in transit (such as TLS) and encryption at rest where supported.
Access to data is limited to authorised personnel and subprocessors who need it to operate the Services, subject to confidentiality and security obligations.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We work to apply reasonable and appropriate safeguards for the nature of the data and the Services.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain your wedding's data for as long as your account is active. After your wedding, your account becomes a wedding archive that remains available to you and your Collaborators on the plan you have chosen.
If you close your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to legal holds, backup cycles, and statutory retention requirements (for example, financial records related to payments).
You may request deletion of certain personal data where applicable law allows; we will respond in line with our verification process and any legal exceptions.
7. Sharing with third parties
We share data only as needed to operate the Services or comply with legal obligations.
Service providers and subprocessors. Trusted providers help us with hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, and similar functions under contracts requiring them to protect the data and use it only for our specified purposes.
Payment processors. When you pay for The Aisle App or contribute to a registry, your payment information passes through licensed payment providers. They process the payment in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable financial regulations.
Collaborators and Guests. Information you put into your wedding is visible to the Collaborators you have invited, at the access level you grant them. Guests see only what you share with them through wedding-specific channels (RSVP forms, registry pages, public wedding websites if you publish one).
Legal obligations. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of Nuru Technologies, our users, or the public.
We do not sell personal information to data brokers or advertisers.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
The Aisle App uses a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies needed for security, session management, and basic functionality.
Where we use analytics tools, we aim to keep them limited to understanding product usage and improving the Services. You can control cookies through your browser settings where applicable. See our cookies notice for more detail.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable data protection laws, including the rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of personal data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format where technically feasible
To exercise these rights, contact hello@theaisleapp.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.
10. International processing
Your data may be processed in Australia and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law.
11. Information you provide about other people
When you add Guests, Collaborators, or vendor contacts to your wedding, you are sharing information about people other than yourself. You are responsible for ensuring you have a lawful basis to share that information with us, and that you have provided those people with appropriate notice where required.
Common examples of lawful basis include consent (you asked your friend if you could add them to your guest list) or legitimate interest (you are organising a wedding and you need to track who is coming).
If a Guest or Collaborator asks us to remove their personal data, we will work with you and with them in line with applicable law.
12. Children
The Aisle App is intended for use by adults aged 18 and over.
You may include children in your wedding planning (for example as Guests on your guest list). When you do, you are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate parental consent and that you handle their data responsibly. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children.
13. Public wedding websites
If you publish a public wedding website through The Aisle App (for example to share your wedding details with Guests), the information you put on that page becomes visible to anyone with the link. Choose carefully what you include.
You can take your public wedding website down at any time from your account settings.
14. Vendor directory
If you apply to be listed in The Aisle App's vendor directory, the business information you submit (your business name, location, services, sample work, contact details for couples to reach you) will be made publicly visible to couples using the Services. Personal information you submit as part of your application is handled in accordance with this policy.
15. Marketing communications
We may send you occasional updates about new features, product news, or wedding-related content if you have opted in to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
Transactional emails about your account, payments, and wedding milestones are not marketing emails. We send these regardless of marketing preferences because they are necessary to provide the Services.
16. Governing approach
This policy is intended to reflect principles aligned with internationally recognised data protection standards, including practices comparable to GDPR-style rights, as well as the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988, where they apply to our processing activities.
Specific legal requirements in the country where you plan and hold your wedding may also apply. We encourage you to understand any local obligations relevant to you.
17. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on our website and adjust the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the Services or by email where appropriate.
